These are the general and common but best adventure activities in Rishikesh that people normally experience. Moreover, these are extremely fun, adventurous and provide a lifelong memory.

a) Camping

Camping in Rishikesh is one of the most famous adventure activities not just in Rishikesh, but in the whole world. Spending a thrilling night in your private camp amid nature with your partner is truly a fantastic experience.

Additionally, Rishikesh provides various types of camping, like Riverside, Mountain, Jungle and Beach camping. Moreover, you can try cooking, stargazing and bonfire during your camping night.

Now, why do people consider Rishikesh as their prime destination for camping in India? Well, the credit goes to its environment and ecosystem. It provides a serene environment, moderate temperature, a safe environment, appropriate camping sites, river Ganga and much more.

I suggest September to June time. This is the Best time to visit in rishikesh for adventure because of the moderate temperature, lush greenery, safe weather and appropriate Ganga level.

Just make sure to pack your necessary stuff, like camping gear, suitable clothing, basic medicines, food/cooking stuff, moisturizer, insect repellant etc.

In a nutshell, I will say that camping in Rishikesh is truly a lifelong memory and a thrilling adventure. But, make sure to bring someone along.

b) Bungee Jumping

If you are mentally and physically strong, then how about experiencing a thrilling and free fall from a towering cliff. Don’t worry you will be tied with a stretchable rope, and it’s really an amazing adventure.

However, only adults and physically fit can participate in this activity as it is a very highly thrilling and risky activity, but equally fun.

For location, there are three places where you can try bunjee jumping in Rishikesh, one is in Mohanchatti and the other two are in Shivpuri. Among these, I prefer Shivpuri spots. They are easily accessible, safe and provide exceptional bungee experience.

The best time for bungee jumping is arguably the post-monsoon season or summer. However, you can visit any time.

You don’t have to pack anything specific, as the agency or the provider will give you all the basic items etc. Just pack your basic stuff and some motion sickness medicines.

c) Reverse Bungee Jumping

What do you understand by the name reverse bungee? Of course, it’s the same as bungee jumping, but in the opposite direction.

And, if you want to escape your boring life and experience a shrill, then make sure to try rafting in Rishikesh once in your lifetime.

Rishikesh has several rafting routes divided on length and difficulty level, like from a small 9 km raft to a whopping 35 and 70 km raft. You have to choose the right and suitable rafting spot for yourself.

However, you just have to book a reputable travel agency, they will do almost everything whether it is providing the best rafting gear, giving instructions and offering a personal guide.

Now, the best time for rafting is from September to summer. But, in my opinion, the Summer season is the best. Although it can be crowded, it’s the peak season.

Now, you just have to pack your suitable clothing, essential items, rafting gear, some snacks, water bottles etc

b) White Water Rafting

White water rafting is the same as rafting but there is a slight difference. The white water rafting takes place in high-current water filled with rocks and debris. Thanks to these rocks and debris the high flowing water looks white.

Additionally, it is more dangerous and thrilling than normal river rafting. The reasons are high current, uncertainty, rapids etc. That’s why only experts or experienced people try this.

Luckily, Rishikesh has some amazing rafting routes for a safe and fun experience. You can try them under the guidance and surveillance of trusted travel agencies. Make sure to follow their advice to the end.

Talking about time, and rafting, the best time for white river rafting is September to June, and summer is still the best time for water activities.

c) Cliff Jumping

During rafting or any other time, you can try cliff jumping. You don’t have to do anything, just wear your safety or life jacket and jump from a cliff in the river or any water body.

It is a short activity but super fun and exciting. But, make sure to have a proper jacket and know the basics of swimming. Don’t try the cliff jumping on high running water, as it can make you unstable and can be dangerous. 

d) Body surfing

If you don’t want to do anything just lay down and let yourself float in the river, then Body surfing is a must.

It is another fun activity to try during rafting. However, make sure you are tied with a rope to your rafting boat and there is a personal guide looking over you.

Body surfing is a relaxing and refreshing experience that can be done by almost everyone except children and senior citizens.

e) Kayaking/Canoeing

If you are alone but brave enough to challenge the Ganga River in Rishikesh, then you can try Kayaking or canoeing all by yourself.

Keep in mind that it is one of the riskiest but high-adrenaline-rushed water activities. Plus, you will be all alone in the kayakboat. So, make sure you are physically and mentally fit and have prior experience. 

If you don’t have any prior experience, then inform the guide or agency, and ask them for a much safer location. Rishikesh has several spots divided into various difficulties, so choose a suitable and appropriate river route.

Time and packing are almost similar to rafting. Summer is the best time, and just pack your basic items, the rest will be provided by the agency.

3. Wildlife

If you love animals and wildlife, then you are super lucky, because Rishikesh has one of the best safari parks in Uttarakhand – The Rajaji Park.

And, the best part of this safari is driving. You can drive your car all the way from the start to the end of the safari. So, there is no exhaustion and danger.

But make sure to not bother the animals in their habitat. Just take a glimpse from a safe distance, because there is no there for your entertainment or amusement.

Jumaring is basically tree climbing with proper gear and rope. It is good for your health whether it is physical and mental, and it adds a brand new experience to your life.

The view from the top of the tree is top-notch, and if your tree is on a mountain, then the looks are just heaven. You can get a broad view of your surroundings.

However, make sure to keep an eye out for monkeys and other tree animals and try to avoid jumaring if you are alone or the weather is not suitable.

During your trip, you will come across plenty of Dharas, a variety of trees, flora, fauna, waterfalls, and infinite gorgeous scenery.

And, talking about places or trails, I suggest Chandrashila, Neelanth and Neer Garh trek.

The best time for hiking is post-monsoon, spring or pre-summer because the summer can be quite hot. Make sure to bring water bottles, but there is an infinite water source called Dhara, which provides fresh and cool drinking water.

However, make sure to keep an eye on your surroundings, and stay away from shady areas and follow the trails.

b) Waterfall trekking
